On November 6th, 2014 the team from Help Portrait Vancouver was thrilled and honoured to be back at BC Children’s Hospital for our annual visit to the Child Life Department. This is always a very special and emotionally uplifting event for those of us involved. We had some extra help this year to persuade our shy participants into a few smiles and giggles.

One of the Help Portrait team members was asked by the staff “what do you enjoy most about doing this” and the reply was “being able to provide a moment of joy and smiles for the families that they can always remember with their portraits”. It’s quite evident from the look on this proud father’s face seeing his little daughter transformed by our makeup team that its these moments that makes this event so special.

A particular heartwarming experience came from this beautiful young lady who was at first a little reluctant at having her portrait taken despite her mother’s encouragement. But once they got in front of the camera and just became themselves you could see the love and bond that they shared. With that came some of the most genuine and beautiful portraits of the day.

Many thanks to the amazing makeup artists and staff of the Child Life Department who are always jumping for joy to see us and we look forward to the next time.
